The Custody Register

The custody register is the central document in every engagement we deliver. It is structured like a formal ledger: numbered entries, cross-referenced appendices, and a revision history that auditors and successor signers can follow without specialized training.

Register structure

Each register contains five core sections:

Section A: Treasury overview

A one-page summary identifying the treasury entity, primary contact, governance structure, and the date of last full verification. This section orients a new board member or external reviewer.

Section B: Wallet inventory

Numbered entries for each offline wallet, including:

• Wallet identifier (assigned by us, not the on-chain address)
• Hardware device type and serial number
• Associated blockchain networks
• Date of initialization
• Current status (active, decommissioned, pending)

Section C: Signer matrix

A cross-reference table mapping each wallet to its authorized signers, their roles, contact information, and the multisig threshold where applicable. Signer changes are tracked in the revision log.

Section D: Storage locations

Physical and geographic storage details for hardware devices and seed backup materials. Each location entry includes access restrictions, authorized personnel, and the wallets stored there.

Section E: Recovery procedures

Step-by-step recovery paths for each wallet, including escalation contacts and time-sensitive actions if a signer becomes unavailable. Recovery procedures are reviewed annually.

Cross-references

Appendices provide supporting evidence: ceremony attestation forms, device purchase records, photographs of tamper-evident seals, and board resolutions authorizing custody arrangements. Every appendix is numbered and referenced from the main register entries.

Update procedure

When your treasury adds a wallet, changes a signer, or relocates storage, submit an update request through our contact form. We produce revised register pages and an updated revision log entry. Annual reviews include a full reconciliation against the current register.
